The Camden, NJ, Courier-Post on Sept 22, 1928 shared this good news about Charles Harlow Miles, Jr. He got into West Point after graduating from the Wenonah Military Academy.

Miles can be seen in this Wenonah Military Academy football team photo. He is in the middle row with a 13 on his left shoulder.

A month after he graduated from West Point in 1933 he married a Woodbury, NJ woman, Annetta Mae Moore. A Courier-Post newspaper page with a large photo of the couple coming out of the Kemble Methodist Church in Woodbury is attached. The reception was at the Oakwood Country Club near Woodbury Heights in an area now called Oak Valley.

In 1936 Mrs. Miles went to join her husband, then Captain, traveling on the ship in the link below for almost a month from New York City to Honolulu.

During the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941 Captain Miles and his wife were stationed at Hickham Field in Honululu, Hawaii. The next day the newspaper reported that they had escaped injury.

He rose to the rank of Colonel in the Army. He was stationed in San Francisco and Rhode Island at various times. He and his wife are buried in the military cemetery in West Point, NY.
