Wenonah Fire Company
One of the oldest organizations in Wenonah is the Wenonah Fire Company. The two links below lead to more information about it.
This 1915 Ford Soda-Acid Fire Truck was Wenonah's first motorized fire truck. It was also used to tow a hose cart and ladder wagon. The truck was replaced later by a 1928 Seagraves Pumper. The members of the Wenonah Fire Company in the photo are John Viereck (driver), Joseph Chew (standing) and John Drummer. John Histand (not pictured) was the mechanic who kept the vehicle running. Notice the box car in the background. It is a long way from home. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago,_St._Paul,_Minneapolis_and_Omaha_R... |
Harry C. Viereck had a lifelong connection with Wenonah, as a cadet at WMA, a volunteer fireman, and a realtor. Read his obituary in the PDF below.
