1921 4th of July Wenonah American Legion Ceremony
Here are 3 photos of American Legion Post 192 participating in the July 4th ceremonies 100 years ago on July 4, 1921.
The building in the photo is at 8 N West Ave. It was originally used by the West Jersey & Seashore Railroad and moved to its present location on East Ave. The post later moved to the building at 6 N Marion Ave.
The old Legion building back when I lived in Wenonah in the late 50's and early 60's was a barber shop, can't remember his name, but he was also tax collector for the city and I remember being there and have folks come in and pay their bills. It was next to Bowkers and Tony Saccas grocery on N West Ave.
James Shuster opened the barber shop after the American Legion moved to N. Marion. He lived on N. Monroe Ave.">
